As shown in Figure 0.4 four DIP switches were for parallel-load data, two were for specifying operations (Load, Shift Right, Shift Left), and two were used for serial data from both side of the shift register. Four LED's were connected to the output, and indicated the value of the register. Push-button switch was used to generate the clock.
